How does this theme apply to your civilization?
1. Demography and Disease
Nobody truely knows the population size of Mesopotamia, but what is known is that it was well over 40,000 people
Aside from main cities/states (like Babylon), there were many small settlements of people which usually consisted of farmers
2. Migration
Mesopotamia was a permanent settlement, its people did not migrate
3. Patterns of Settlement
One of the first societies to stop migrating constantly and settle down
Many people cleared land and became farmers
Located next to Euphrates River and Tigris River in the Tigris River Valley
All major cities, states and settlements were located near the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, due to lack of rainfall
4. Technology
Had the Wheel
Used metal tools like bronze and copper and would soon use iron
Horse drawn charriots
Built Ziggurats, or large pyramid like temples that housed alters of the cities main deity
Built ships as a form of quicker transportation and trade
